About us

The State Land Service of the Republic of Latvia (the "SLS") is a governmental institution in charge of listing and supervision of land and objects related to it for the purpose of ensuring their proper use and protection. Activities of the SLS are supervised by the Ministry of Justice.

The main tasks of the SLS are as follows:

1. maintenance of the State information system of Real estate cadastre and registration of  real estate object data;
2. valuation of real estates;
3. valuation of real estates for land reform, privatisation, expropriation and rent purposes;
4. cadastral surveying of buildings;
5. land dispute proceeding;
6. maintenance of rural land privatisation register and provision for privatisation processes;
7. supervision over land cadastral surveying;
8. maintenance of the Real estate market data base;
9. maintenance of textual and graphical information in the State Address register;
10. drafting and update of administrative territory border descriptions and graphical data;
11. development and maintenance of protective zone information system;
12. accumulation of land surveying information and dissemination of data required for land surveying;
13. accumulation and storage of respective documents in the State Land Service archive, distribution of information from the information systems and archives maintained by SLS;
14. territorial planning material expertise;
15. other tasks as set forth by laws and regulations.
