The State Land Service celebrated its 20th anniversary
Around 100 participants from 14 countries of Europe attended the conference 'Challenges for Cadastre in Digital Era', held on 8-9 May 2013 in Riga City Council.

The conference was broadcast via internet and interested people could follow the presentations on-line. The elegant premises of the Riga City Council underlined the festive atmosphere of this extraordinary event.

The Minister of Justice in Latvia, Mr. Janis Bordans and the General Director of the SLS Mrs. Elita Baklane-Ansberga opened the conference, which brought a number of very interesting and top level presentations about the achievements in Latvia and the mutual cooperation with state administration and municipalities, biggest users of cadastral data; information about the achievements in Lithuania, Estonia, Croatia, Slovenia, Switzerland. Apart from these topics a broader, pan-European view on Cadastre beyond Borders was provided by Dave Lovell, Executive Director of EuroGeographics and Rik Wouters, EULIS Managing Director and a reflection on 3D cadastre by Nick Land from ESRI.
